Overview
Based on a book of the same name, depicting events in a Welsh valley after a nuclear holocaust, in which almost everyone has dies, leaving just two families. Eventually just one girl and one man are left, and the majority of the film is about how they cope with the situation and each other.

Imagine a film adaptation of The Silence Of The Lambs that decided the story would be more interesting if Hannibal Lecter had a cellmate who kept interrupting Lecter’s conversations with Clarice Starling, trying to secure his own transfer to another prison. Or a movie version of Gone With The Wind that ends with Rhett Butler snarling, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn,” followed by another fellow—let’s call him Brock Landers—sweeping Scarlett O’Hara into his arms and whispering, “Well, I do.” That’s more or less the situation with Craig Zobel’s hugely misguided Z For Zachariah, which takes a story involving what may be the last two people on Earth and adds a completely new third character.
