During a hospital stay in 2001, the Polish painter, sculptor and filmmaker Walerian Borowczyk compiled a handwritten list of the objects and animals that were featured in his films. While he had used both encyclopedias and dictionaries to order chaos in his own films, this list saw Borowczyk putting his own life in order.

So far, the crowning achievement of Daniel Bird's documentaries for the Arrow Borowczyk collection. His love for the man is palpable from the opening montage throughout, and the clips chosen to illustrate Boro's points are spot-on. (I especially loved that Bird saw the same profundity in the 'reality' joke from Joachim's Dictionary that I did) The interviews seem to be from the 1980s - in one of them, Borowczyk plays the interviewer a clip from a film he's just completing, which turns out to be 1984's Scherzo Infernal. Most of the film is drawn from the same one, a lengthy.
